This rich and gooey Neiman Marcus Cake is a Southern classic with a buttery base and creamy, custard-like topping made from cream cheese and powdered sugar.
1 box yellow cake mix
½ cup unsalted butter, melted
3 eggs, divided
8 oz cream cheese, softened
3½ to 4 cups powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9×13-inch pan.
Combine cake mix, melted butter, and 1 egg. Press into pan for crust.
In a separate bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth.
Add 2 eggs and vanilla extract. Mix well.
Gradually add powdered sugar and beat until smooth and creamy.
Pour over crust layer and spread evenly.
Bake for 35–40 minutes, until edges are golden and center is slightly jiggly.
Cool completely before cutting into bars.
