Neiman Marcus Cake is a rich, gooey dessert with a buttery cake base and sweet cream cheese topping — a Southern classic made from cake mix and pantry staples.
Base Layer:
1 box yellow cake mix (15.25 oz)
½ cup (1 stick) melted unsalted butter
1 large egg
Top Layer:
8 oz cream cheese, softened
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
3½–4 cups powdered sugar
Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Mix cake mix, melted butter, and 1 egg. Press into the pan as the bottom layer.
Beat cream cheese until smooth. Add eggs and vanilla, then beat in powdered sugar until fluffy.
Pour cream cheese mixture over cake base and smooth evenly.
Bake 40–50 minutes, until golden and slightly jiggly in center.
Cool completely before slicing. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
Customize with chocolate chips, nuts, or different cake mixes. Store chilled or at room temperature.
