Salted Caramel Apple Bars are a cozy fall treat featuring a buttery shortbread crust, cinnamon apple filling, and oat crumb topping—all finished with a drizzle of salted caramel.
Shortbread Crust:
1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
2 cups all-purpose flour
½ cup brown sugar
¼ tsp salt
Apple Filling:
4 cups peeled, diced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
2 tbsp butter
⅓ cup brown sugar
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp nutmeg
1 tbsp cornstarch or flour
Crumb Topping:
1 cup old-fashioned oats
⅔ cup flour
½ cup brown sugar
½ tsp salt
½ cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
Finishing:
½ cup salted caramel sauce (homemade or store-bought)
Flaky sea salt (optional)
Preheat oven to 350°F. Line 9×13-inch pan with parchment.
Combine crust ingredients and press into pan. Bake 15 min. Cool.
Cook apples with butter, sugar, lemon, cinnamon, and thickener. Cool slightly.
Mix topping ingredients until crumbly.
Spread apples over crust. Sprinkle topping evenly.
Bake 30–35 minutes, until golden. Cool 1 hour.
Drizzle with caramel. Sprinkle with sea salt. Slice and serve
Store chilled for up to 4 days.
Freeze without caramel and add after thawing.
Add nuts or spices for extra flair.
