Coffee Talkies are a creamy, coffee-forward no-bake dessert layered with espresso-soaked ladyfingers, mascarpone cream, and a dusting of cocoa—perfect for cozy gatherings or coffee lovers.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup strong brewed espresso or coffee (cooled)

  • 2 tsp sugar (optional, for coffee)

  • 20 ladyfingers (Savoiardi) or sponge cake strips

  • 4 egg yolks

  • ½ cup granulated sugar

  • 8 oz (225g) mascarpone cheese (room temperature)

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream

  • Unsweetened cocoa powder or dark chocolate shavings (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Brew strong coffee or espresso and let cool. Add sugar if desired.

  • Whisk egg yolks with sugar until thick and pale.

  • Fold in mascarpone cheese until smooth.

  • In a separate bowl, whip cream to soft peaks. Gently fold into mascarpone mixture.

  • Dip ladyfingers into cooled coffee (1–2 seconds per side).

  • Layer dipped ladyfingers and cream mixture in serving glasses or dish.

  • Repeat layers, ending with cream.

  • Chill for at least 4 hours or overnight.

  • Dust with cocoa powder or chocolate before serving.

Notes

  • For alcohol kick, add coffee liqueur to espresso.

  • Use decaf coffee for a kid-friendly or evening dessert.

  • Swap mascarpone with blended cream cheese + cream if needed.

  • Store in fridge for up to 4 days.
