2½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1¾ cups granulated sugar
4 large eggs
1 tbsp vanilla extract
1 cup whole milk or buttermilk
Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and line two 9-inch pans.
Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
Cream butter and sugar until pale and fluffy.
Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla.
Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk in 3 additions. Mix just until smooth.
Divide into pans. Bake 28–32 min. Cool completely before frosting.
Use room temp ingredients for best results.
For cupcakes: bake 18–20 minutes.
